Every year I look forward to seeing the incredible fashions that celebrities, models, artists, designers, and politicians wear to walk the red carpet at The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala, and Monday night's star studded event did not disappoint. The annual Gala kicks off The Met's Costume Institute's newest exhibit and is a huge fundraiser for the museum. This year's exhibit, Schiaparelli & Prada: Impossible Conversations, showcases impeccable creations by Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada, two Italian fashion designers who, despite living and designing in two different eras, share a strikingly similar design aesthetic.
The Met Gala is a tribute to the art of fashion, and the greatest faux pas an attendee can make is to forgo embracing the artistic invention that is high fashion and arrive in a timeless gown. The event celebrates ingenious fashion design and the celebrities who dare to wear the most imaginative creations by some of the most prominent designers of today.

Diane Kruger wearing a Fred Leighton necklace
Jessica Stam wearing Lorraine Schwartz bangles
